Night Song Refuge is working toward a USDA permit. Why is this permit important? It will allow us to be more
open to the public. To allow school or community groups access to the property. The permit would allow us to have regular business hours however that is not something
we wish to do because of the disruption to the daily routine or the animals. We
can also take the animals off site to perform more community activities and education.
To sum it up we see it as an opportunity to give back to the community and help our animals all at the same time.
While Night Song was built with the standards and regulations in mind, there
are some minor improvements needed. One of the big projects we want to complete
prior to applying for this permit is a perimeter fence. What the fence will do
for us a better sense of security. Keeping our animals safe is the most important
thing in our minds. A perimeter fence adds an extra barrier between the animals
and the outside world. Giving us a bigger sense of security and also removes
any fears no matter how unfounded any community member might have with our presence.
We are asking for your help in this project.
We recently received an estimate from a commercial fence company of $66,000 to erect a 10 foot fence around the entire
property. We believe we can erect the fence ourselves for a fraction of the cost
but we need your help. We both monetary donations as well as donations of your
time.
For every donation of $100 or more you will receive your name on a plaque
placed on the fence for all to see. For anyone donating your time of 10 hours
or more you too will receive your name
on the fence for all to see. Once the fence is complete, all donors will be invited
to the refuge for a fence “grand opening”.
Please find it in your hearts to help our animals. Every dollar goes directly to the animals and their care. No
salaries or compensation in any way is made to the staff. All work and land is
donated for their well being.
