Wolfdog Sanctuary and Wild Canid Center

narrowcochiseeyesedit.jpg

Night Song Refuge is a wolfdog rescue and sanctuary.  We are also home to five New Guinea Singing Dogs and two coydogs.  Night Song Refuge hopes to be an education center for several different types of wild canines.

Night Song Refuge was founded in 2004 by Catherine and Andrew Beall.  They wanted to give back and help animals.  Wolfdogs are one of the most misunderstood animals in the world.  Believed to be snarling, drooling, vicious animals.  In reality they are most often shy and prefer to be left alone. NSR does however strongly urge anyone who thinks they wish to own one to DO YOUR HOMEWORK.  They are not the appropriate pet for most people.  A fact that escapes many until they get their new member home.  Wolf dogs are extremely gifted at counter surfing, opening refrigerators, and chewing up furniture.  When owners in over their heads start looking for placements they turn to sanctuaries. Most sanctuaries are full and many animals are euthanized every year.

At this time, Night Song Refuge is home to approximately 35 wolfdogs.  Night Song Refuge has a policy of not adopting out any of our wolfdogs.  We are strictly rescue and sanctuary.  The Refuge gives it’s residents a safe, comfortable place to live out their lives.  In addition to the wolfdogs, NSR is home to 5 New Guinea Singing Dogs and 2 coydogs.

Educational and Intern Programs

Night Song Refuge offers educational programs on any of our canines.  We offer programs on wolves, wolfdogs, New Guinea Singing dogs, Coyotes, and responsible pet ownership.  Off site programs are offered only.  Arrangements can be made for senior projects or student interns.  Any one who is interested in any of our educational opportunities please feel free to contact Cathy Beall at 828-693-0010.

Mission Statement

Night Song Refuge: Wolf Dog Rescue and Sanctuary is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, more specifically 1) to provide a secure, permanent home for wolf dog hybrids (and other wild canids) who would otherwise be in danger of abuse or euthanasia; 2) to insure that wolf dog hybrids residing in the Refuge have the opportunity to experience enriching activities; 3) to promote public education concerning wolves, wolf dogs, wild canids and responsible pet ownership; and 4) to conduct fund raising activities to assist in meeting financial obligations of rescuing, feeding, constructing and maintaining adequate enclosures for rescued animals, and providing veterinary care for the rescued.
